"Dr Akanksha Srivastava is an eminent Kathak Dancer & Guru of “Lucknow Gharana".
Her dance performances entails both beauty & grace of presentation. Akanksha has devoted herself to the field of dance and music under the guidance of extremely devoted guru Pt. Arjun Mishra. Her association with him lasted for two decades, and she started learning from him at a tender age of eight. She always found her guru dedicated to dance on one side and caring and loving on the other. Because of her vigilance and keen association to Kathak and her sincere effort, Akanksha was able to achieve the first prize in the child category and youth category of the state level dance competition conducted by the Sangeet Natak Academy. By the blessings of her Guru , she has completed Nipun from Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapeeth, Lucknow and 'Pravin' from Prayag Sangeet Samiti Prayagraj, where she was placed in the second position in the order of merit,1999. She got first position at All India Solo Kathak Competition in Senior Verg in 2000, organized by Sahara. To explore her knowledge in the field of Kathak she pursued her Doctor Of Philosophy from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Chattisgarh, for which she was awarded by the Governor of Chhattisgarh in 2016.
Join NowShe did a tremendous work in the field of teaching which was highly appreciated by the Ambassador of India during her tenure (2016-2019) at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center, Dushanbe Tajikistan, where she was posted as a Kathak dance teacher cum Performer by Indian Council for Cultural Relations ( Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
As a creative Choreographer, she has given Kathak dance a new dimension through her fascinating group compositions.
